Born in Estonia, Mr. Danel was a celebrated sculptor in his native Russia, receiving, among other awards, "Best Work of the Year" in 1973 for his monumental work commemorating the history of the Russian Wars, which was installed in Kirov. Now living in New York, he specialized in contemporary sculpture of classical subjects.
