If you’ve wanted the strength of Textilene® but have been concerned that the stiffness of the fabric might not be comfortable for your horse, you’ll be interested in the new Oasis Summer Turnout. Made of a proprietary fabric that is soft and coat friendly with a burst strength similar to Textilene® and an even higher shear strength. The Oasis mesh features a smaller hole size for increased protection from biting bugs and is highly breathable and easy to care for. It’s rated to block 10% more UVA and UVB radiation than Textilene® too. A friend tested this sheet for us (spring was late in Oregon and it’s hard to test a fly sheet in the rain!) and returned a positive report. We were a little concerned that the smaller mesh size might cause the sheet to be too warm. I’m happy to report that it’s performed well in temperatures up to 90°, keeping the horse both cool and bug free.
