A.D.D. Halter

For those moments of inattention when something more serious than an ordinary halter is in order you’ll find this a very useful tool, the A.D.D. Halter – that stands for Attention Deficit Disorder! I’ve found it to be more effective, easier to use and safer than a chain across the nose. A plastic-coated wire cable forms a secondary noseband and passes through the leading ring. A single lead rope can be attached to the wire cable or you can use two leads - one attached to the ordinary halter ring and one to the ADD Halter ring. An excellent training device when used this way, it allows you to use the ordinary lead so long as the little darling is paying attention and only bring out the big guns when he forgets his manners. The plastic coating on the cable prevents the halter from being too severe, but it will certainly get your point across when necessary! Unlike a chain, the halter is not pulled askew on the horse’s nose. This halter is excellent for youngsters and oldsters alike – use it in any situation when your horse is likely to forget his leading manners. The halter is made from soft and pliable 1" nylon webbing with solid brass hardware. A word of caution: do not tie a horse with the wire cable noseband - He could pull back and seriously injure his nose. Also not intended as a turnout halter. Brown only.

We breed Lipizzans on our farm, a breed in which it's traditional to leave the stallions entire. With 40-odd horses of various age ranges, that means there's a lot of testosterone on our farm at any given time! We originally developed this halter to give our barn help something to assist with controlling impetuous young stallions but that would be unlikely to be accidentally (or purposefully) misused. It's served the purpose well both for us and our customers for many years.
