Here's what our customers say:

"Very easy to use and quick and safe to get a horse into and out of."  JF - Paradise, TX        "Very pleased with the functionality of the stocks."        "The swing sides are what make it great!" PM - Eagle Point, OR        "I especially like the safety and easiness of having a front, back and two sides that move, making it easier to take a horse in and out. I truly appreciate the added safety with the stocks and how easy they are to use." AA - Tillamook, OR         "Very user-friendly and safe for horses and staff. The swing side arms  make loading nervous horses easy. We have not had a horse that wouldn't enter your stocks - other styles of stocks we have horses that won't load." CH - Dutton, MT        "Absolutely the easiest & safest stocks I have ever seen. We have put ponies and draft horses, lots of mules and Thoroughbreds in them. I will never go back to the old way!" PM - Weed, CA        "Their design makes it very easy to lad even the most skittish horses, yet they are very secure. Plus they protect us and our vet from kicks when breeding or performing exams. A very worthwhile investment for anyone who breeds horses or needs to safely secure horses for vet exams." Garnet Hill Farms - Gretna, VA

Veterinary Exam Stocks

When a 1200lb horse loses it in the examination stocks it's never a pretty sight. I cringe whenever I see horses put into stocks with double barred rails and lots of upright supports for them to get legs between and over. So when it was time to install stocks on our own farm I looked long and hard for a set that would minimize these hazards and here are the stocks we chose. With uprights only in the front arch and a single bar rail, there's just not much for a horse to get hung up on. The 4" steel pipe construction will take all the abuse a frantic equine can dish out without any sharp or rough edges to add injury to insult. Virtually every part of the horse is easily accessible for any kind of veterinary examination or procedure or even for grooming or bathing. The height of the arm is easily adjusted by lowering or raising the hub and the breast bar can be positioned more forward or rearward to accommodate the horse's length.

But the basic design isn't the only safety feature here - you can get your horse in or out of these stocks in any direction - the front breast bar drops down out of the way to lead a horse out the front or you can open the back gate to lead him in or back him out. But both arms also swing out 180 degrees to let a panicked horse out either side. Our own farm Vet has a set of these in his clinic and his preferred way to load a horse into them is from the left side. He has observed that horses are less likely to challenge the confinement when they're moved sideways into the stocks.

And if a situation does occur in which the panic has gotten out of hand and your horse has managed to rear and land on top of the stocks, a special hub permits you to swing the arm out even with the weight of your horse on it! While there's no such thing as a set of stocks that a horse can't possibly figure out how to hurt itself in, these come as close as you'll get.

One ring is located on each side of the bow arch for tying horses with two additional rings in the top of the arch for hanging veterinary items or a hay net. Additional rings can be added to customize these stocks for dental work or other specialty veterinary procedures. The rear gate features a "V" top for rectal palpation or A.I. procedures. The gate itself is constructed of furniture-grade select hardwood and finished with multiple coats of spar urethane.  Designed for in-ground installation.
