Stall Front Storage Bag
We have more horses than
anyone in their right mind should and keeping their clothes
straight is a nightmare. It's no use writing their name inside
a blanket - by the time it's been laundered a few times it's
illegible. Don't plan to go by size, because that tag becomes
unreadable even faster. This bag has saved my sanity. I have
them embroidered with the horse's name and have a set for each
horse's entire wardrobe. So when spring comes, Josh's winter
PJs go in the bag with his name on it and out comes his cotton
sheet. He's got one for his winter turnout too because the
only time I'm really sure what clothing belongs to what horse
is when I take it off him! It makes packing up for a road trip
a snap too, because his fancy show clothes have their own bag
too. My tackroom is tidier because all the blankets and sheets
stack neatly on the overhead shelf and it's easy to sort
through and find the right ones without pulling everything
down on my head.
What began as a nicety has become a necessity on our farm.
Generic horse clothes that don't get used often or on a
specific horse (you know what I mean - the spare turnouts that
get used while a blanket is out for repair or when a visiting
mare is shivering in the rain and you feel guilty........) get
embroidered with the size only. And I color code the type of
clothing - green for spring things, navy for winter and
brown for turnouts. This is one of the best organizational ideas I've had in
eons! Try it and see if you agree. Each bag has a carrying
handle as well two straps that close with velcro to fasten it
around your blanket bar.
